AP source: Jets restructure Carpenter's contract (Yahoo Sports)

A person with direct knowledge of the situation says the New York Jets have restructured the contract of left guard James Carpenter, creating some much-needed salary cap space. By lowering Carpenter's base salary to $760,000, the Jets save $2.46 million in salary cap room. It's the first in what could be a few moves to restructure deals because New York has only about $3.4 million in cap space.
