Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes swung under an 0-1 changeup from Tyler Clippard, looked down and took a stiff step out of the batter's box as he tried to stretch his sore right quadriceps. Cespedes returned to the starting lineup in the Mets' 9-5 Subway Series loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night, then said he will be put on the 15-day disabled list Thursday in another blow to the defending NL champions. Before the game, the Mets said first baseman Lucas Duda likely will not play again this season because of a back injury that has sidelined him since May.
