Indians' Perez has thumb surgery, out 3 months (Yahoo Sports)

Indians catcher Roberto Perez is expected to miss up to three months after undergoing surgery on his right thumb Friday. The Indians said Perez had the type of fracture where a small chunk of bone attached to a ligament pulls away from the main part of the bone. Cleveland acquired Chris Gimenez from Texas for cash considerations on Wednesday to back up Yan Gomes behind the plate.
