Kershaw and others could return soon for mending Dodgers (Yahoo Sports)

In 2014, Kershaw became the first pitcher to win the National League MVP since Bob Gibson in 1968. It isn't exactly common in the AL either, and for one pitcher to win twice in three years would be a staggering achievement. (AP Photo/Gerne J. Puskar, File)

The Dodgers got some encouraging news on the eve of resuming play after the All-Star break, with word that injured ace Clayton Kershaw could soon return to the starting rotation. After Kershaw played catch Thursday at Dodger Stadium, manager Dave Roberts said the left-hander would throw a simulated game Saturday at home, along with fellow lefty Alex Wood. All of it is contingent upon how Clayton feels.
