White Sox to cut left-hander John Danks after 10 years (Yahoo Sports)

The AL-leading Chicago White Sox plan to cut John Danks on Thursday, ending the left-hander's 10-year run with the team. Erik Johnson will be promoted on Thursday to pitch against the Red Sox, but Chicago general manager Rick Hahn says the fifth starter role is ''going to be a bit of a fluid situation.'' He mentioned Miguel Gonzalez and Jacob Turner as two other possibilities, and played it coy when asked about Tim Lincecum's upcoming showcase in Arizona. The White Sox are responsible for the remaining portion of Danks' $14.25 million salary this year, a little more than $11.9 million.
