Matt Harvey struck out a season-high 10 in six innings, Yoenis Cespedes homered again and the New York Mets escaped a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the eighth inning to beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 Sunday and salvage split of the four-game series. With Washington losing 4-3 in 13 innings at Chicago, the Mets moved into sole possession of first place in the NL East for the first time this season. San Diego loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth but failed to score.
