Four relievers combined to pitch seven innings after starter Joe Ross departed because of a blister, and Washington beat the Miami Marlins 3-1 on Wednesday. Yusmeiro Petit (1-0) allowed one run in four innings as Ross' replacement, and Papelbon pitched around a two-out single in the ninth for his sixth save, completing a five-hitter.
