Mariners acquire Gallardo from Baltimore for Seth Smith (Yahoo Sports)

The Mariners landed another option for their pitching rotation on Friday, acquiring right-handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo from the Baltimore Orioles for outfielder Seth Smith. Seattle also will receive cash from the Orioles in a deal that may solve concerns for both teams. ''Gallardo gives us the veteran presence that we have been searching for,'' Seattle general manager Jerry Dipoto said.
