Lions RB Ameer Abdullah out 8-plus weeks with foot injury (Yahoo Sports)

Theo Riddick is about to get a chance to be an every-down running back in the NFL. The Detroit Lions put running back Ameer Abdullah on the reserve-injured list with a foot injury Wednesday, keeping him out of the lineup for at least eight weeks and pushing Riddick up the depth chart. Abdullah hurt his left foot on a 24-yard run in the second quarter of a loss Sunday to Tennessee and didn't return to play.
