Felix Hernandez tied Jamie Moyer for the most wins in Seattle Mariners history, accomplishing it with just one hit of support in a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Seth Smith provided the lone run - and the only hit for the Mariners - leading off the sixth inning with a home run to right off Royals starter Kris Medlen (1-2). Hernandez (2-2), in his 11th season with the Mariners, matched Moyer with 145 victories.

The New York Jets head into the third day of the NFL draft with three more picks and plenty of needs to fill. After going with Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee as the team's first-round selection with the 20th overall pick Thursday night, the Jets surprised some by drafting Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg in the second round Friday night. It appeared New York might try to add a pass rusher at that spot, which they did in the third round with Georgia's Jordan Jenkins.

Trevor Story tied a rookie record with his 10th homer of April, a two-run shot, and the Colorado Rockies hit four home runs in a 9-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. Story, the Rockies' shortstop, tied Jose Abreu of the White Sox, who hit 10 in April 2014. Story and teammate Nolan Arenado, who also homered, are tied for the major league lead in home runs.

Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly said it was an easy decision to pull Adam Conley after 116 pitches despite the lefty having not allowed a hit for 7 2/3 innings. Conley exited with a no-hit bid intact, drawing boos from the crowd at Miller Park, and Miami's bullpen might have given up the first hit but it wound up holding off the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 on Friday night. Jonathan Lucroy blooped a single with one out in the ninth off reliever Jose Urena to break up the combo no-hit bid.

The New York Jets have a new quarterback on their roster - whether or not Ryan Fitzpatrick returns. With Fitzpatrick still unsigned and in a contract stalemate, the Jets selected Penn State star Christian Hackenberg with their second-round pick in the NFL draft Friday night. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound Hackenberg threw 16 touchdowns with six interceptions last season for the Nittany Lions.

Tampa Bay's perpetual search for a dynamic pass rusher has turned to Noah Spence. The Buccaneers selected the Eastern Kentucky defensive end in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night, hoping he's put the off-field issues that kept him from being a first-rounder behind him. Spence began his college career at Ohio State, where he was an All-Big Ten selection and dominant pass rusher before multiple failed drug tests led to his departure from the Buckeyes.

The Bucs selected the explosive defensive end/outside linebacker from Eastern Kentucky at No. 39 overall Friday night during the second of the three-day draft in Chicago. The 6-foot-2, 251-pound Spence, who entered the draft after his junior season, was considered by some to be a first-round talent, but with the baggage of drug problems at his first school, Ohio State. The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected UCLA linebacker Myles Jack with the 36th overall pick in the NFL draft, landing a speedy player with huge upside who is recovering from a serious knee injury. If Jack returns to form, the Jaguars could have the steal of the draft. Jacksonville traded up two spots to get Jack, who had been widely projected to go early in the first round.

After three hours of sleep and a cross-country flight, Jared Goff arrived in Los Angeles eager to get to work with the Rams. The team welcomed Goff on Friday after selecting him with the first overall pick in the NFL draft. Wearing a bright blue suit during a news conference at a downtown hotel, Goff displayed his No. 16 jersey and shook hands with coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead, whose fates might be tied to Goff's success as their new franchise quarterback.

''To get the first guy out,'' Darvish said through an interpreter Friday before the Rangers' scheduled game against the Los Angeles Angels. The three-time All-Star, who led the American League in strikeouts in 2013, is scheduled to throw two innings or about 30 pitches for Double-A Frisco against Corpus Christi.

Dee Gordon has been suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball after the Miami Marlins second baseman tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Gordon tested positive for exogenous Testosterone and Clostebol, MLB said in a release after the Marlins' 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. The fleet-footed Gordon won the National League batting title by hitting .333 last season and signed a $50 million, 5-year deal with Miami in January.

The Atlanta Braves ended an eight-game losing streak, beating the Boston Red Sox 5-3 Thursday night as Nick Markakis had three singles, a double and three RBIs. Mallex Smith doubled twice and had an RBI single for the Braves, a big league-worst 5-17. Atlanta won for the first time since April 19 and avoided being swept by the Red Sox in the interleague series, which included two games in each city.

The Jacksonville Jaguars believe they got the best defensive player in college football. The Jaguars selected former Florida State star cornerback Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft Thursday night, adding another piece to the team's defensive makeover. Picking in the top 10 for the ninth consecutive year, the Jaguars wasted little time selecting the 6-foot-1, 209-pound defender who was a three-year starter for the Seminoles and also ran track.

The Dallas Cowboys chose Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL draft Thursday night. It's the highest Dallas has drafted a running back since taking Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett second overall in 1977. All-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith went 17th to the Cowboys in 1990.

A bizarre video that was posted on Laremy Tunsil's Twitter account minutes before the start of the NFL draft showed a person smoking from a mask equipped with a bong. The approximately 30-second video was posted to Tunsil's verified Twitter account before quickly being deleted. The entire account was deactivated about 30 minutes later but the video added to the perception that Tunsil has off-the-field problems.

The Los Angeles Rams have selected California quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, and the No. 2 selection for the Philadelphia Eagles is North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. The 6-foot-4 Goff started every game during his three seasons at California and set school records with 977 completions, 12,220 yards passing and 96 touchdown passes.


Tebowmanics holding out hope of a Denver reunion (Yahoo Sports)

The Denver Broncos entered the NFL draft still searching for a quarterback. Tim Tebow is out of an NFL job. An online petition asking the Broncos to reunite with Tebow started on Change.org just before Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler bolted to Houston, had more than 5,500 supporters early Thursday, a boost of more than 2,000 after ESPN ran a short item on the bid.

Anthony Gose doubled and homered, Anibal Sanchez pitched through a wild outing and the Detroit Tigers beat Oakland 7-3 Thursday to take three of four in the series against the Athletics. Sanchez allowed two runs and three hits while striking out nine, but walked seven - one shy of his big league high. Sanchez was the first Tigers starter to walk seven and strike out nine in the same start since Jack Morris against Texas on April 14, 1988.
